February Little Shop News

Welcome to the February 2006 edition of LITTLE SHOP NEWS

Valentine’s Day is approaching. It’s that time of year
again when we shower our human loved ones with flowers and
cards and maybe even some chocolate. We hope you and yours
get a chance to go out and have a romantic evening
together, but don’t forget about your little terrors. One
of the best ways to show our pets love is to make sure they
are safe and sound when riding in the car. Little Shop of
Terrors has a wide range of pet car seats, harnesses and
pet carriers that will keep your pet secure while riding in
the car and make them feel pampered at the same time. Check
them out -

Another way to show our pets love is to keep them healthy
by only feeding the best quality food. That’s why Little
Shop is proud to offer several varieties of Flint River
Ranch.

Flint River uses the very best ingredients and oven bakes
their food, making it easier to digest. Oven Baking
produces a very rich food. The smaller morsels are
important; they will be digested very quickly in the pet's
system helping create immediate nutritional value for your
dog or cat. The larger, crunchy kibble naturally cleans
teeth, exercises the gums and freshens breath.

Most brands of dog food include some by-products and
chemical preservatives. The use of low quality products and
chemical preservatives may be associated with dry skin,
allergic reactions, dental disease, poor health and
degenerative organ dysfunction. Flint River Ranch chooses
all natural, human grade ingredients.

Flint River Ranch is shipped to your door via UPS, direct
from the manufacturer, so you don't wonder how long it has
been sitting on the shelf. Flint kibble is made fresh 3
times weekly and is 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. Read more
about it, and try some Flint River today -

One of the saddest things imaginable is the loss of a
beloved pet. For true animal lovers, our pets become part
of our family. They give us comfort, companionship and
truly unconditional love. When they leave our world they
take a piece of our heart, but leave behind precious
memories.

When I was very young my grandmother had four poodles:
King, Queen, Brownie and Bettie. They were all around the
same age, and sadly they passed away within just a couple
of years of one another. Queen was the first to go, and I
remember how crushed my grandmother was. My uncle made a
little memorial by pouring some concrete mix in a small
wooden box and putting some pretty rocks on top. He used a
nail to etch Queen’s name and the year she passed. He
presented this to my grandmother and she put it in her
flower garden right next to the front porch. Within a few
years three more memorials were placed in the garden, and
every time anyone went to my grandmother’s house they were
reminded of her precious poodles. Each time I saw these
memorials, I would think of some cute thing one of the dogs
would do, or some funny quirk of their personality, and
would feel as if they were there greeting me at the door,
just like they always had.

Now, some 30 years later, I have two precious Yorkies that
mean the world to me, and since I don’t have any children,
Ellie and Rylie truly are my “girls” and I don’t know how I
ever lived without them. Sometimes in the back of my mind,
I think about how unfair it is that we have such a short
time with our pets, and though we do everything we can to
keep them healthy and safe, we know they won’t be here
forever. I get a lump in my throat when I think about a
time in the future when they won’t be with me, and I give
my babies a hug, and try to just love and enjoy them as
much as I can right now. The greatest gift we can give our
pets is to make their lives happy and fill them with as
much love as we possibly can in the short precious time
they are with us, because truthfully, they give us a
tremendous gift every moment they are in our lives.

My grandmother brought many things to my life, including a
love for animals, and one thing I learned from her is that
your pets are never truly forgotten if you keep them in
your heart and on your mind. Those homemade concrete blocks
next to her front porch weren’t exactly the most attractive
things in her garden, but they were certainly the most
beautiful. I know that someday, hopefully a very, very long
time from now, I’ll have a memorial, whether it’s in a
garden, or on a mantel or out in my backyard beneath a
lilac bush, and every time I pass it, I’ll think of my
girls and the love they gave me, and my heart will smile.

Here at the Little Shop, we understand the devastating loss
of a pet, and the desire to send off our loved ones in
comfort, and then keep their memories precious forever.
With this in mind, we have added a line of caskets, urns
and keepsake supplies by EagleWP. All of our caskets are
handcrafted and stained, and can be fully lined in softly
padded velvet and satin. They are crafted of the finest
hardwoods and sealed to protect them for generations.
Pillow and blanket sets are available to make a truly
unique and beautiful resting-place for your pet. See our
options to order casket accessories for your beloved pet.
Our expanded product line includes keepsake and memorial
boxes, markers and plaques.
